The main emphasis of Continuum 1 is to help general dentists attain the ability to more proficiently perform “surgical extractions” that fall within their comfort level. It involves carrying out a treatment plan that includes proper instrumentation, hard and soft tissue management, and tooth removal in a reasonable timeframe. It encompasses effective patient management, avoiding or managing surgical complications, and effectual postoperative care. Principles are ingrained working on models.
This is a 14 hours hands-on model work on surgical extractions.
Discussion ranges from basic to advanced.
Instrumentation
Faster “surgical” extractions
Subtleties of sectioning and easier root retrieval
Flaps and suturing for exodontia and socket grafting
Extractions and the sinus
Multiple extractions and disease removal/alveoplasty
Exostoses excision and frenectomy
Incision, drainage and managing infection
Moderate third molar impactions, mandibular and maxillary case selection and things you need to know to avoid complications.
Realistic Model-Based Training Experience
Perform 8 extractions (6 surgical)
Master the “excision” method of root tip removal
Practice flap design: envelope, triangular, semi-lunar
Section maxillary and mandibular first molars
Perform alveoplasty and frenectomy
Do two socket preservations (traditional & bone plug)
Dress to your comfort level and be mindful of the dust that may get on your clothing from the hands-on portion with models.

Testimonials
"We [My Community Dental Centers] have sent about 25 of our doctors through [KCSI Continuum 1]. Without exception, our doctors tell us how much the course has helped them in their daily clinical
surgery practice. If I were starting out in practice, the first course I would take would be this one."
